City & Guilds Machine Embroidery

This course is no longer run at Gloucester College. I am running it as a non certificated Distance Learning Course. For more information click here.

This is a one year course, beginning in September. It will run at Gloscat at the Cheltenham campus.

The course is intended for beginners and those with little experience of machine embroidery. The course will take a year to complete. If you take the course by distance learning course, you can start at any time during the year. On successful completion of this course, students may progress to the 7922 Machine Embroidery course.

For the Machine Embroidery 7822 certificate, students are expected to complete:

  • 2 completed items (full details in syllabus)
  • A portfolio of samples
  • A basic core unit of design
  • A set of 10 samples

For Distance Learning Students

The syllabus for Distance Learning students is the same as for those who attend college, however it is broken down into 6 modules.

You may start the course at any time of the year and the cost of the course from September 2003 will be £337 plus a £35 exam fee.

This is for one year from commencement. If you wish to take any further time, you will need to enrol again for another year so we suggest you start work as soon as you enrol.

Don't forget that in addition to your course fees, you will have the cost of postage and materials. Fees can be paid by cheque, credit card or by direct-debit. Details of these options will be given on the remittance slip sent with your enrolment form. If you are on means tested benefit, you should contact college for information on fees.

This is a vocational course receiving Government funding. It is a requirement of the Funding Council that students keep in regular contact with their tutors. This is normally done by sending in work on a regular basis and then receiving a written tutorial. We also keep in touch by newsletter. Our records are subject to audit so if there is some reason why you are unable to work on the course for any length of time, please let us know so we can keep our records in order.
